HARDWARE REPAIRS
Accidents happen, and even the best hardware can suffer from extreme conditions or long-term wear. Our repair lab is fully equipped to restore your 8BitLab devices to factory-operating standards, even if they fall outside the standard warranty period.
OUT-OF-WARRANTY SERVICE
If your hardware has suffered liquid damage, drop damage, power-surge failures, or simply needs a battery replacement after years of heavy use, our technicians are here to help.
We provide transparent, itemized quotes before any work begins, ensuring you never face unexpected fees.
THE REPAIR PROTOCOL
Phase 1: Initial Diagnosis
Contact us at contact@8bitlab.org with a description of the issue. We will provide an initial consultation to determine if the device is theoretically repairable before you spend money on shipping.
Phase 2: Shipping & Bench Test
You ship the device to our lab. Upon arrival, it undergoes a comprehensive bench diagnostic. We charge a flat non-refundable diagnostic fee (EGP 150) which covers our technician's time to disassemble, probe, and test the circuitry.
Phase 3: Quote & Approval
We send you a detailed repair quote including parts and labor.
- If you approve: The diagnostic fee is credited toward your final repair bill. We fix the device and ship it back.
- If you decline: We can either safely recycle the hardware for you at no cost, or ship the un-repaired device back to you (you cover return shipping).
SERVICE TIMELINES
Our standard turnaround time is 7 to 14 business days from the moment the device hits our lab bench.
Timelines may occasionally be extended if specific microchips, proprietary sensors, or custom enclosures need to be specially sourced. We will always communicate any supply chain delays before you approve the repair quote.
REPAIR GUARANTEE
We stand by our workbench. All out-of-warranty repairs performed by 8BitLab come with a strict 90-day secondary warranty.
This secondary warranty applies exclusively to the specific components we replaced or the exact soldering work we performed. It does not cover new unrelated failures or repeated physical damage by the user.
DATA INTEGRITY WARNING
During severe motherboard repairs, system flashes, or storage module replacements, user data may be irrevocably lost.
It is your sole responsibility to back up any code, projects, or data stored on dev boards, smart tools, or memory modules before shipping them to us. 8BitLab accepts zero liability for lost, corrupted, or wiped data during the diagnostic and repair lifecycle.
